Our commitment

This website is designed and built so that people with disabilities can use it independently, in line with Israel’s Equal Rights for Persons with Disabilities Law, 5758-1998, and its Service Accessibility Regulations, 5773-2013.

The standard we work to

Our target is level AA of Israeli Standard 5568, “Accessibility Guidelines for Web Content”, which is based on the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).

How the site is made accessible

  • The site is built to be used with a keyboard alone. A “Skip to content” link comes first, menus open and close from the keyboard, and the focused element shows a visible outline.
  • Pages are built with headings, landmarks and lists, so screen readers can announce their structure and move through it.
  • Images that carry information have text alternatives; decorative images are hidden from screen readers.
  • Forms label every field, mark the optional ones, and explain errors next to the field they concern.
  • Text can be enlarged with the browser’s zoom, and the layout adapts to small screens without horizontal scrolling.
  • Animations and background videos are turned off when your device asks for reduced motion.

What is not fully accessible yet

Despite our efforts, some content may not yet be fully accessible:

  • Pages and documents on other websites that we link to: press articles, videos on YouTube, and the donation and registration pages of our payment processors (CauseMatch, IsraelGives, JGive and chai.org.au). Their owners are responsible for them.
  • Some older documents, such as annual reports in PDF, and some videos may not have full text alternatives or captions.
  • The site is in English only for now. A Hebrew version is in preparation.

If you need any of this content in an accessible form, contact us and we will do our best to provide it.

Reporting a problem

If you find a page or a feature that is hard to use, please tell our accessibility coordinator. It helps us to know the page’s address, what you were trying to do, and the browser and any assistive technology you use.
